The Bournemouth Heart Club is an independent Registered Charity No.1006725

Phase 1 of the Club was built and opened in 1996 after an Appeal that raised £650,000 from donations both large and small from the public sector and local businesses. The dedicated building enabled the Club to run 12 two-hour sessions per week to meet the needs of a growing membership.  Unsurprisingly membership continued to expand necessitating an additional gymnasium and Phase 2 was opened in November 2000. This in turn required more exercise instructors and a constant investment in exercise equipment and staff training as all of the Heart Club instructors are required to hold the gold standard level 4 BACPR qualification.

Membership subscriptions on their own have never been able to cover the annual operating costs of the Club and we rely on the generosity of our friends and supporters who raise money for the Club through donations, fundraising activities and legacies.
This makes a huge difference to our finances and almost 30 years after the Bournemouth Heart Club was opened we now run around 45 classes, 6 days a week for close to 700 members. Being a registered charity we are governed by a board of Trustees who ensure all money raised through donations, fundraising or legacies is spent and invested according to the strict rules of the Charity Commission.
