The Keep Well Hub
The Keep Well programme is designed for people who are at risk of heart disease due to an inactive lifestyle or health condition. This includes high blood pressure diabetes, stroke (TIA), high cholesterol, COPD, overweight, smoker, family history of CVD or Long Covid.
You do not have to be referred by your doctor or clinician, just fill in a self-referral form (see below) and attend the Heart Club for an initial comprehensive health assessment by specially trained staff.
Spouses, partners, carers or companions of patients who join the Heart Club as full members following their hospital cardiac rehabilitation course, can also join the Club via the Keep Well programme so that they can exercise together.
Joining the Keep Well programme at the Bournemouth Heart Club will give you a structured exercise plan under the supervision of highly qualified instructors who understand your health condition and limitations. The Bournemouth Heart Club is centre of excellence in the field of cardiac rehabilitation and a place where you can exercise in complete safety.

How can physical activity help me?
Increasing the amount of physical activity and improving your lifestyle can make enormous improvements to your health and wellbeing. It’s medically proven that people who do regular physical activity have:*
Up to a 35% lower risk of coronary heart disease and stroke
Up to a 50% lower risk of type 2 diabetes
Up to a 50% lower risk of colon cancer
Up to a 20% lower risk of breast cancer
Up to a 83% lower risk of osteoarthritis
Up to a 30% lower risk of depression
Up to a 30% lower risk of dementia
Improved recovery and less risk of death from Covid 19

Unfortunately busy modern life does not encourage physical activity. Many of us have sedentary jobs, use transport to get around, and relax in front of the TV or computer. It is never too late to start exercising and get fit. This could be your opportunity to do so in friendly, safe surroundings.
How to enjoy physical activity
The key is to incorporate fun activities into your everyday life. Joining the Keep Well Scheme will give you a structured exercise plan at the Bournemouth Heart Club with the best qualified staff and specialist equipment in Dorset for cardiac exercise and also includes an initial assessment and final assessment.
